2024 Scholarship Overview and Instructions
The Johnstown Community Sportsmen’s Club offers $1,000 scholarships to eligible high school seniors in the following school districts or who are residents of the area served by these districts: Johnstown Monroe, Northridge, Utica, Watkins Memorial, Licking Heights, Lakewood, Granville, Newark, and Centerburg.
Students outside these school districts may submit, but will only be considered, at the discretion of the Board of Trustees of the Johnstown Community Sportsmen’s Club with a compelling case presented by the student.
Eligibility requirements for this scholarship include the following:
- Completed scholarship application
- ACT composite score of 50th percentile or better
- Proof of acceptance and enrollment to an accredited collegiate institution
- Recommendation from HS principal or guidance counselor or their designate
- GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
- Satisfactory completion of one essay as part of the application, see details below.
As a practice, the Johnstown Community Sportsmen’s Club prefers to make payment of the scholarship to an accredited institution in the recipient’s name; if a recipient is unable to produce evidence of enrollment prior to July 31 of the graduating year, the scholarship will be held for the student for one year (until July 31 of the following year) pending evidence of enrollment at an accredited institution.
Funds provided by the scholarship from the Johnstown Community Sportsmen’s Club shall be used for tuition, books, lab fees, course-required tools, equipment, and supplies. Exceptions may be made based upon a compelling case presented to the JCSC Board of Trustees.
Deadline for submission for this scholarship is March 31, 2024.
